WHAT PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY ABOUT us...Thank you for your quick response and all your support for our family during this pandemic. Although my kids really miss seeing their friends, the online assistance you're providing is allowing us to adjust seamlessly to homeschooling. Not overdoing the zoom classes but offering guidance and resources so my kids aren't in front of a screen all day. We feel blessed! - SJCS Parent I can only imagine how exhausted you guys must be and how sad with the changes and cancellations of all things. Just wanted to add a note of encouragement that the online classes with Joe and Maria are going great so far, kids are learning and good with it. I hope the junior families will be okay with a changed load! And I’m so glad we already know how to all hang out in the same small house for days and weeks at a time!! With much prayer and gratefulness of spirit, - M. B. SJCS Parent "A million thanks for blessing our entire diocese by the gift of your schola’s sacred music. I mean it sincerely to say that it was a pivotal moment for the Parishioners of St. Michael’s and certainly edifying for the participants of One Rock 2.0. " - Fr. Cristino Bouvette "We are looking forward to another fantastic year. Thank you so much for everything you do!" - A SJCS parent The songs really work! My kids have a far better understanding of the world's countries than I ever had as a kid. Super happy with this aspect of the program! - Mr. S. SJCS Parent "We have been so blessed by this community, the choir, and the academics. The children are thriving both academically and socially, and it has been a huge burden lifted off my shoulders. We love the classical model, the curriculum choices, the physical activity, the choir, the teachers and the other families !" - B. Family My kids love the choral program and I can see that it's not just empty words on their part because they break into song at home. They never did that before attending the schola! - Mr. S. SJCS Parent I’m very grateful to God for this school and pray that He will continue to help SJCS bring His light into the dark times we are living in. I really appreciate and I’m so very thankful for all the work, time and effort you put in to making this school happen! May God bless you and help all of us to grow and flourish at SJCS! -Mrs. N. SJCS Parent I very much appreciate the schola and all who make it work. Staff are sincere in their faith and in their desire for children to succeed. I appreciate how open they are to dialogue and improving what is being done (like with this survey, for example). -D.S. Your text choice seems great! So many history sources suck Christ out of history and minimize the impact of the Church. Others reek too much of triumphalism - brushing past the Church's real mistakes out of desire to show the good. While new to schola, I don't see any evidence that either approach is happening here. - Mr. S. SJCS Parent Great work and love the visual timeline of history. Children need to know history and in the correct order of events in time to make things clear on how we got to where we are today. The random study of historical events without seeing the big picture, is confusing and plays down the importance of knowing history. - Mrs. T.N. We feel very fortunate that our children are exposed to the rich classical approach in education that they find at the Schola. - Mrs. M.W. I greatly appreciate the instruction on how to write persuasive and narrative paragraphs. The step by step directions and repeated practice were very helpful. - L.C. SJCS Parent I see great fruit in my children's writing since coming to the schola. I love how you challenge the kids to use more mature and interesting choices of words. Keep up the great work! -D.S. SJCS Parent Thank you for all your hard work and openness to adapting to the needs/suggestions of parents. - Mrs. M. "I love St. John Choir Schola. This is our son's second year attending and he would list his top three favourite subjects as choir, phys-ed, and literature. The beauty of the program is evident when I constantly hear my son singing or humming their latest musical conquest. St. John's is a superb orthodox program where students are surrounded by instructors who teach from the heart." ~ Anna A. SJCS parent "It is encouraging and refreshing to be surrounded by like minded parents who value teaching and educating their children in Catholic tradition." ~ Chris A. SJCS parent "I’ve been attending St. John Choir Schola since grade 3. I really love being part of the school and especially part of the choir, not only do I learn sight reading skills and ear training, it has also helped me to improve in piano. I look forward to the days I spend there."
M.-C. Grade 6 Student "I find St. John Choir Schola is a lot fun. I really enjoy phys ed., choir and grammar. In our history classes, we are reading good books such as the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Norse Mythology. I particularly like the art program too, but I really like getting away from the noise of my siblings!"
T. Grade 4 Student "Our youngest children have attended St. John Choir Schola since it began 4 years ago. I thoroughly love the rich curriculum used and have been very impressed with how much my children have learned over the years especially in the areas of Language Arts, Religion and History. St. John's Choir Schola provides a wonderful environment and for me personally it was the perfect setting for my children - the best of homeschooling combined with the best of schooling."
S. O. SJCS Parent “I started working at SJCS in September 2016. From the beginning, I knew this school was like no other. The emphasis put into arts and music is very impressive. I attended the Christmas Concert last December with my family, and we were all amazed at the excellence of the choir performance.
As a Math teacher, I am very excited about the quality of the textbooks we use, and the size of the classes. The students are committed to their education, and have the desire to learn and to work hard both in class and at home. For me, it is a pleasure and an honor to be a part of this great community.” Mrs. M. C. SJCS Staff "I was sitting here having lunch with my grade 6 daughter and my grade 3 son. My daughter was explaining the Magna Carta and the development of common law. My son jumped in when she started talking about King John. Before that he was doing his literature, answering some written questions about Romeo and Juliet. I went over them for spelling and was so impressed because he answered in full sentences. I said, 'Wow, you are really doing a good job. You are working hard.' He said, 'Nahhh, this is fun.' He's got the catechism questions down pat. I'm so impressed by what they're learning and how engaged they are."
Mrs. W. SJCS Parent "SJCS has helped us to give our children the education we always wanted to. Despite our best intentions, our isolated efforts at home could not creatively sustain that rich classical Catholic learning environment in a way comparable to what we can do now, working with the support of the SJCS community.
Thank you!" Mrs. B. SJCS Parent "St. John Choir Schola has been an amazing experience. I love working here because of the strong community that has been formed, the great material that I get to teach, and the opportunity to see something wonderful coming together. Every day I understand more and more how vital this school is because of the important work being done, which is evident in the students. They flourish both as students and as people, in mind and character."

"It is working out really well because, last year, Chris didn't like going to school at all and always had an excuse not to go. I do believe he enjoys this school and his part with the choir. Every First Friday, they sing at the 12 noon Mass at Assumption. It is a beautiful Mass. . . . There isn't anything that I can say I don't like about the school. I feel it has been a wonderful option for us when we needed it the most. I'm pretty sure that's going to be our choice for next year for grade 9."
