the SJCS House League
The House League at St John Choir Schola was created as a way to enhance community among the students, promote healthy competition and develop character. All our students are divided into four Houses: Athens, Sparta, Rome and Carthage. Junior students collect house points by completing homework on time, achieving perfect spelling scores, reading library books, and by showing sportsmanship in Phys Ed classes. They also earn points by their House games on First Fridays. Senior students collect house points in a similar way at the discretion of the tutors. All tests and exams receiving a grade of 90% and up automatically qualify for house points. House games on First Fridays, and Phys Ed classes also contribute to points. Click here is a complete list of points that can be earned. A house prefect, and an assistant prefect are assigned to each house, chosen by SJCS staff & admin from among the grade 10-12 students. Prefects participate in leadership training throughout the academic year and each house is assigned a supervising tutor. The House with the highest points at the end of the year is declared the winner of the Olympus Cup and is presented with the trophy at our annual award ceremony and graduation in May. |
